Conventional medicine has two options; drug and cut.

Those are great options if you are in a car accident or have a heart attack, but they don't work for chronic illness, especially the ones that don't show up on the outside.

You know what I’m talking about. You feel like crap on the inside, but on the outside, you look perfectly fine, so people think you are just making things up when you tell them you are in too much pain or too tired to do the fun thing with them.

Drug and cut is a temporary fix. They just mask the symptoms for a bit, but usually create new symptoms that require more medication or surgery.

With conventional medicine, you will be on a roller coaster ride; feeling okay and then feeling like crap. Let’s be honest, no one wants to ride that roller coaster.

Doctors, the majority of whom truly do want to help their patients get better, are working in a system with standards of care that are set by the pharmaceutical industry.

If doctors violate the standards of care and, you know, think outside the box, they can lose their license.

To make matters even worse, healthcare professionals are taught that anything that goes against what they are taught is quackery. There is a lot of indoctrination in the medical system which is difficult to overcome particularly when your license is at stake.

I know. I was indoctrinated in my early years as a dietitian. I believed what I was taught until I discovered that everything I was taught about nutrition was crap.

Science trials are a lot like the bible.

They are only as good as the data inputs and interpretation.

Sadly, a lot of the research we hear about is performed in a way that leads to the desired outcome. If it doesn’t, then the data that doesn’t lead to the “right” result is ignored, or just flat out lied about.

If you have a chronic health issue, it’s going to be extremely difficult to heal within the conventional medical system, no matter how great your doctor is.

You can’t heal if you don’t get to the root cause and you can’t do that if you are just masking symptoms.

So what is the root cause?

Believe it or not, it’s the same for every illness…stress.

Yes, stress is the match that starts the fire that burns everything to the ground.

When we are stressed, the hormone cortisol rises and negatively impacts other hormones like estrogen, and even neurotransmitters like serotonin.

Stress also affects gut bacteria which leads to the release of endotoxins which create inflammation.

But wait, there’s more!

Stress leads to a mineral imbalance, particularly magnesium, iron, and copper and this mineral imbalance makes it difficult for our mitochondria to turn oxygen into energy.

Our cells need energy to function properly, otherwise we accumulate oxidative stress which makes us sick.

Chronic stress is why you feel like crap on the inside but look fine on the outside.

So how do you fix stress?

In today’s world, we are always going to have stress…at least until we learn to forgive and love the other, but I think that will take a while.

You could try living alone on a paradise island, but even then, I bet there are poisonous snakes and giant spiders, so we really can’t avoid stress.

Our only option is to reduce stress in our life as best we can and then strengthen our body to limit the negative impact of stress.

Here is the process:

  1. We REMOVE the things, people, foods, supplements, and beliefs in our life that lead to stress in the body.

  1. We REPLENISH the nutrients our body needs to function properly and reduce the effects of stress.

  1. We REVITALIZE our mind and body with joyful activity, healthy thinking and lifestyle habits.

You don’t have to be chronically ill or ride the conventional medicine roller coaster. There is a better way.

Healing is possible because your body is designed to heal. You just need the right tools.

If you are ready to get off the roller coaster and get your life back, email me at annette@annettepresley.com and let’s start a conversation. Put “I want off” in the subject line. Or you can DM me on Instagram or Facebook @hormonehandler.

It’s just a conversation, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
